Normal Range of Vertical Fusional Reserves in Young Adults Aged 18-25 Years
Abstract
Objective: The objective of this study was to find out the range of vertical fusional reserves in normal adults aged 18-25 years. Method: Total 100 adults, including 50 males and 50 females underwent for measurement of amplitude of vertical fusional reserves range with vertical prism bar held in the frontal plane position. All adults had visual acuity 6/6 with and without glasses. Results: Out of 100 adults 36 (36%) had 3 prism diopters and 33 (33%) had 2 prism diopter base up break point and 40 (40%) had 1 prism diopter and 33 (33%) had 2 prism diopter base up recovery point. In the same way 30 (30%) had 3 prism diopter and 29 (29%) had 2 prism diopter base down break point and 36 (36%) had 1 prism diopter and 32 (32%) had 2 prism diopter base down recovery point. Conclusion: Maximum adults had 3 prism diopter break point and 2 prism diopter recovery point with both Base Up and Base Down. The range then calculated was 2 – 3 prism diopters. Key words: vergences, fusion, prism, base up, base down.
